{"id":960,"date":"2013-10-24T08:43:52","date_gmt":"2013-10-24T13:43:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mchtulane.wordpress.com\/?p=960"},"modified":"2013-10-24T08:43:52","modified_gmt":"2013-10-24T13:43:52","slug":"emerging-mch-graduate-student-scholarships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thatscourtney.space\/blueprint\/emerging-mch-graduate-student-scholarships\/","title":{"rendered":"Emerging MCH Graduate Student Scholarships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Association of Maternal &amp; Child Health Programs (AMCHP) is a national resource, partner and advocate for state public health leaders and others working to improve the health of women, children, youth and families, including those with special health care needs.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"AMCHP\" src=\"http:\/\/www.amchp.org\/SiteCollectionImages\/design\/AMCHP-logo.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Scholarship funds are designed to assist graduate students in furthering their education as promising maternal and child health (MCH) professionals\u00a0while sponsoring their attendance at the AMCHP Annual Conference to hone their leadership skills and connect them with existing leaders within MCH.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide a leadership development opportunity for emerging MCH leaders<\/li>\n<li>Open opportunities to network with MCH professionals and families nationally<\/li>\n<li>Establish a forum to learn about emerging and national MCH issues related to women, children, youth and families, including those with special health care needs<\/li>\n<li>Support the educational development of graduate students by providing funds for education-related expenses<\/li>\n<li>Develop advocates for Title V and MCH programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The\u00a0scholarship will provide up to $1,500 for educational expenses and up to $1,000, to\u00a0attend the AMCHP Annual Conference. \u00a0Scholars selected in fall 2013 would receive funds to support the current year of study and attendance at the 2014 conference, to be held January 25-28, 2014 in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ELIGIBILIY CRITERIA<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First time attendee at the AMCHP Annual Conference<b><br \/>\n<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Graduate degree candidate in last year of program (master or doctoral level) with a strong MCH focus<\/li>\n<li>Preference given to those that have interned, worked or volunteered in a Title V or Title V-funded program<\/li>\n<li>Has minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale<\/li>\n<li>Can attend at least three days of the conference<\/li>\n<li>Two reference forms, one which must be from a Title V-related staff person and another from an academic representative. Refer to the reference form for details<\/li>\n<li>Consistent, active participation in public and\/or community service activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are three components to the application process. The first and second components are due by\u00a0<strong>Friday, Nov. 15, 2013\u00a0<\/strong>at\u00a0<strong>8 p.m. EST<\/strong>.
