PM-NOLA is focused on youth educational policy change to reduce dropping-out, as high school education completion rates are associated with increased long-term health, increased financial success and lower incarceration rates.\u00a0 PM-NOLA is interested in a robust community dialogue around these issues and is seeking an ambitious student to manage the social media activities to support this agenda. <b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Job Location: <\/b>The intern will be housed at Loyola University.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Supervisor:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 Dr. Charles Corprew, Psychological Science, Loyola University<\/p>\n<p><b>Primary Responsibilities:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Contribute to PM-NOLA website redesign and content.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor and post on all online platforms (blogs, forums, social networks and website.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct online outreach and promotions.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate PM-NOLA website and social media optimization.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct and establish key word analysis to enhance user search.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Minimum Qualifications:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>University student majoring in political science, marketing, English, or communications,<\/li>\n<li>Marketing or business administration with substantial or proven experience on the web and effective use of social media at the organizational level.<\/li>\n<li>Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.<\/li>\n<li>Genuine sensitivity to the needs of all children and commitment to youth education.<\/li>\n<li>Professional attitude and manner that reflects the high standards of the PM-NOLA initiative.<b> <\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Desired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Effective verbal and listening communication skills &amp; ability to communicate effectively.<\/li>\n<li>A solid understanding of policy and education issues affecting youth in New Orleans.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to translate and direct ideas and posts into positive dialogue.<\/li>\n<li>Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team.<\/li>\n<li>Strong attention to detail.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to think proactively and function independently<\/li>\n<li>Personal Attributes: honest, trustworthy, and respectful, possess cultural awareness and sensitivity, flexibility, demonstrate sound work ethics.<\/li>\n<li>Should possess basic knowledge of the Place Matters initiative and be able to articulate program goals.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Compensation: <\/b>Interns will be expected to log 15-20 hours per week during their tenure and compensated at $10 per hour.<\/p>\n<p><b>Posting Date:\u00a0 <\/b>Opens<b> <\/b>August 26, 2012 and closes September 16, 2013.<\/p>\n<p><b>Application Instructions: <\/b>E-Mail questions, cover sheets and resumes to <a href=\"mailto:OrleansPlaceMatters@gmail.com\">OrleansPlaceMatters@gmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Position Summary: Place Matters New Orleans (PM-NOLA) is seeking an innovative, politically and social media savvy intern to set-up and manage the PM-NOLA web site, Face Book page, and Twitter Page.\u00a0 PM-NOLA is a social justice initiative that is aimed at re-shaping policies that impact the health and disparate life-expectancy of New Orleans residents at [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[26,6,23,24,20,25,17,14,22],"class_list":["post-851","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-general-posts","tag-communication","tag-job","tag-local","tag-new-orleans","tag-personal-development","tag-place-matters","tag-policy-and-advocacy","tag-social-determinants-of-health","tag-training"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 -
