Background<\/strong>
\nThe International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a global leader in emergency relief, rehabilitation, protection of human rights, post-conflict development, resettlement services and advocacy for those uprooted or affected by violent conflict and oppression.\u00a0 The IRC has worked in Liberia since 1996.\u00a0 IRC Liberia currently implements post-conflict development programming in Lofa, Nimba and Montserrado counties to implement Health, Child and Youth Protection and Development (CYPD), Community Driven Reconstruction and Gender Based Violence prevention programming.<\/p>\n

The Child and Youth Protection and Development (CYPD) team is comprised of three sub sectors – Education, Child Protection, and Youth and Livelihoods development.\u00a0 A major project within the education sector is the USAID funded Liberia Teacher Training Program (LTTP), which seeks to revitalize Liberia’s teacher education system.\u00a0 With partners, and in close collaboration with the Ministry of Education, IRC is working to develop a new in-service teacher training program to certify primary teachers, a national school administrator’s training manual, a national PTA development and orientation manual and to implement programs related women and girls’ education.<\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

IRC is seeking one fellow who can work in a diverse team to support program activities, someone committed to incorporating human rights, child protection and gender equity into all aspects of program work. The fellow would assist with editing manuals and preparing them for publication, help to strengthen monitoring and evaluation systems and engage in some administrative duties. Special emphasis will be placed on capacity building with local partners and supporting numerous training activities with different core beneficiaries. Capacity building responsibilities include professional development training for staff, support in report writing and aiding budget management. Training support would include designing workshops in collaboration with national partners, training facilitators, conducting model sessions and designing evaluation tools. The Fellow will work closely with a national intern who will provide program support. Willingness to support Program Managers and Field Managers will be needed as well as flexibility to meet the many demands of this large project.<\/p>\n

The fellow should be prepared to live in very basic facilities, follow all safety protocols and travel as necessary in the interior to support program activities. Travel costs and a monthly stipend will be provided.<\/p>\n
