IPPF\/WHR provides   technical, financial, and programmatic support to its 41 member associations   throughout Latin America and the Caribbean to strengthen sexual and   reproductive health and rights throughout the region by addressing five key   programmatic areas\u2014Adolescents, HIV\/AIDS, Abortion, Advocacy, and Access.   Throughout our work, we seek to advance a positive approach to sexuality that   promotes the right of all people to a healthy, pleasurable and respectful   sexual life.<\/p>\n<p>The IPPF\/WHR six-member evaluation unit fosters an organizational culture   that integrates monitoring and evaluation into all of our programs and   projects. These practices inspire self-reflection, making the improvement of   our programs a continuous process. IPPF\/WHR facilitates this process through   technical assistance to Member Associations in development and implementation   of monitoring and evaluation plans, through creation of monitoring and   evaluation tools, and through analyzing data to assess trends at the Member   Associations.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nWe are currently interviewing for a part-time (approximately 25 hours\/week)   intern position beginning in mid-January through May 2009 <\/strong>(with the   potential to extend) to support the cleaning and analysis of data related to   Member Association clinical services, and programming addressing unwanted   pregnancy and access to abortion services.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Description of Duties <\/strong>(all tasks are conducted in both English and Spanish):<\/p>\n<p>Safe Abortion &#8211; Data Entry and Cleaning:<\/p>\n<p>These tasks will be the primary function of the intern from mid-January to   mid-February.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Data cleaning and data entry process for 13 Member Associations (MAs):<\/p>\n<p>o Review MA data reports in excel for inconsistencies in the numbers (formula   errors, addition errors, errors in percentages, and\/or other logical   inconsistencies)<\/p>\n<p>o Draft emails with questions about data errors, inconsistencies, project   implementation questions, and additional questions about MA narrative   responses<\/p>\n<p>o Review revised numerical data to ensure quality and make revisions in data   reports as necessary, based on MA responses<\/p>\n<p>o Assist in entering all final data into an excel database and into donor   reporting tables<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Support safe abortion team Evaluation Coordinators as needed<\/p>\n<p>Regional Service Statistics:<\/p>\n<p>These tasks will be the primary function of the intern from mid-February to   mid-May.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 <strong>Data cleaning <\/strong>for service statistics data for 20-25 IPPF Member   Associations (MAs)<\/p>\n<p>o Review data reports and use data cleaning checklist to note inconsistencies<\/p>\n<p>o Draft email with questions about data errors or inconsistencies<\/p>\n<p>o Review responses (follow up with country to ensure response)<\/p>\n<p>o Update data as necessary in the online system<\/p>\n<p>o Review revised data using checklist to assess trends in service provision<\/p>\n<p>o Draft email with questions about trends and why they occurred<\/p>\n<p>o Revise data as necessary based on response, to finalize data<\/p>\n<p>o Coordinate with administrative assistant to ensure that necessary reports   are printed and ready; occasional generating and printing of reports when   administrative assistant is not available<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 <strong>Data entry<\/strong> for 3 to 5 MAs (ranges from 2 to 4 hours per MA)<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 <strong>Data interpretation and writing <\/strong>up data summary and trends reports   from above data<\/p>\n<p>Other Evaluation Support:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Graphing data, preparing slides<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Preparing and adapting reporting formats<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Other evaluation support as needed<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location<\/strong>: IPPF\/WHR office in downtown Manhattan<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Advanced written and spoken English and Spanish<strong> required<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 High attention to detail.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Comfort and proficiency with numbers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Proficiency with spreadsheets and Excel; experience with pivot tables   desirable.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Experience with SPSS or data analysis programs desirable.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Ability to juggle multiple tasks and manage time efficiently.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Master\u2019s degree or in pursuit of master\u2019s degree in public health, public   administration or sociology preferred.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please email cover letter and resume to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Shelly Makleff<\/p>\n<p>Evaluation Coordinator<\/p>\n<p>smakleff@ippfwhr.org<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IPPF\/WHR is one of the six regional offices that are part of the International Planned Parenthood Federation.
