Senior Analyst II — Immunization<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), a national organization representing approximately 3,000 local health departments nationwide, has an opening for a Senior Analyst II for the Immunization Project<\/strong>. Approximate start date: January 2009.<\/span><\/p>\n

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

This Senior Analyst II position is a member of the Community Health primary work team and contributes to the advancement of local public health practice by performing a range of responsibilities related to immunization and related vaccine-preventable disease epidemiology. General responsibilities include policy analysis; program design; research and evaluation; writing for publication; technical assistance; communication of learnings to the field; program and budget management; and project promotion.<\/span><\/p>\n

NATURE OF WORK<\/span><\/h1>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

This is a highly-advanced professional position that requires a degree of specialized training and\/or knowledge in immunization and vaccine-preventable disease epidemiology. The work involves collaboration with other staff, associated professional organizations and groups, and local health departments. The work also requires the exercise of extensive discretion, independent judgment, and a high level of accountability. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

WORK DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Research and Writing<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Research immunization and vaccine-preventable disease-related activities at local health departments across the country, and identify best practices. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Conduct Internet and other research on topics related to immunization, including disease epidemiology, vaccine safety, vaccine financing, and vaccine supply.<\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Develop and implement survey instruments and tools, conduct telephone and in-person interviews, and perform other data-gathering functions.<\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Prepare proposals, progress reports, budgets and other reports to funders as needed.<\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Coordinate and prepare written summaries of project meetings, including workgroup meetings and conference calls.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Policy Analysis<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Track current immunization and vaccine preventable disease-related issues and support the Immunization Workgroup in developing and promoting policy statements as necessary.<\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Review and analyze major policies regarding immunization that affect local health departments and prepare and disseminate related issue briefs, resources and tools to NACCHO members.<\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Work collaboratively with NACCHO\u2019s Government Affairs staff to identify, track and promote immunization policy.<\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Prepare analysis reports, including implications for public health practice.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Project Planning and Coordination<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Participate in long-term project planning, including identifying future activities and additional funding to support the Immunization project.<\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Communicate with local health department staff via e-mail, listserve, etc. regarding funding, conferences, training opportunities and other timely information related to immunization and vaccine preventable diseases.<\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Serve as primary staff liaison to the Immunization Workgroup. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Interface with NACCHO members and various committees\/workgroups, especially the Immunization Workgroup, the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Workgroup, Pandemic Influenza Workgroup, and the Community Health Essential Services Committee.<\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Ensure integration of the project with other NACCHO projects, especially Maternal and Child Health, HIV\/STI Prevention, Pandemic Influenza, Emergency Preparedness, and Infectious Disease. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Serve as lead staff and primary liaison to project participants, collaborative organizations and funding agencies.<\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Oversee maintenance of project Web pages and other online resources.<\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Identify appropriate individuals to serve on external committees related to immunization and infectious disease epidemiology. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Represent NACCHO (through presentations, exhibits, etc.) at meetings\/conferences related to immunization and vaccine preventable disease epidemiology as needed. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Coordinate project-related training activities, policy briefings, meetings, and other special events. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Other<\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Perform other duties, as needed.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>A medium level of travel is required for this position. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Employment Standards <\/span><\/h1>\n

<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Education\/Experience<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/strong>: <\/span>Master\u2019s degree in Public Health or related field and five years of experience in a public health setting, or Bachelor\u2019s degree with seven years of such experience, is required. <\/span>Specialization in immunization policy and practice and vaccine preventable disease epidemiology strongly preferred.<\/span> Special consideration will be given to candidates who have worked in a local or state health department. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Considerable knowledge about and interest in immunization policy and practice and vaccine preventable disease epidemiology<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment<\/p>\n
