Internship Title: Health Educator Intern or Case Management Intern<\/p>\n

City Department Health Dept-Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program<\/p>\n

Number of Openings: 6<\/p>\n

Position Description <\/strong>Selected Health educator interns will interpret and educate general public about lead poisoning and New Orleans Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program.<\/p>\n

Intern will serve as a vital addition to the office in each of the following ways:<\/p>\n

-Assist in planning and coordination of a City-wide health fair<\/p>\n

-Distribution of educational materials<\/p>\n

-Preparation and presentation of lead poisoning prevention research to civic and professional groups around the City.<\/p>\n

Case management interns will be more client facing. Interns must enjoy working with young children and their families. Interns will interact and disseminate program materials and agendas to the clients.<\/p>\n

Qualifications <\/strong>Excellent communication skills; good computer skills; Hard worker; Fast learner; good organizational skills.<\/p>\n

Public health major preferred.<\/p>\n

Due to the sensitive nature of this position, selected interns must pass criminal background check and drug screening.<\/p>\n

Department Description <\/strong>The mission of New Orleans Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program is to identify and eliminate lead poisoning morbidity in children 6 – 72 months old through primary prevention activities, blood lead screening, and comprehensive case management services.<\/p>\n

Application Deadline <\/strong>September 1 priority. September 15 deadline.<\/p>\n

Timeline <\/strong>Fall semester 2008<\/p>\n
