In<br \/>\nSouthern Africa Oxfam is piloting programmes to integrate responses to<br \/>\nSRH and  HIV and AIDS into development work. Oxfam GB, with support from<br \/>\nThe William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, has launched a two-year<br \/>\nproject aimed at improving access to and quality of sexual and<br \/>\nreproductive health (SRH) and HIV and AIDS services and reducing the<br \/>\nvulnerabilities associated with SRH and HIV and AIDS in two districts of<br \/>\nManica Province, Mozambique.<\/p>\n<p>The project aims to:<br \/>\n*       Build the capacity of HIV and AIDS service providers and health<br \/>\nservice providers;<br \/>\n*       Strengthen gender and age sensitive referral mechanisms at all<br \/>\nlevels;<br \/>\n*       Provide increased access to health information and prevention<br \/>\nservices, particularly for vulnerable and marginalized populations;<br \/>\n*       Strengthen systems to be able to address underlying issues that<br \/>\ncreate barriers to SRH and HIV and AIDS prevention, support, care and<br \/>\ntreatment; and<br \/>\n*       Work to involve and empower local communities to have more<br \/>\nchoices and options and to demand their rights, particularly with<br \/>\nregards to access to essential health services.<\/p>\n<p>INTERNSHIP SCOPE<br \/>\nThe Intern will support two Project Coordinators (PCs) who are charged<br \/>\nwith the coordination of activities under the integrated SRH and HIV<br \/>\nproject according to agreed work plans.  The PCs are employed by the<br \/>\ndistrict-level Ministry of Health (DDS) and work directly with the lead<br \/>\nProject Manager of Oxfam&#8217;s SRH and HIV project in areas of planning,<br \/>\ninformation gathering, documentation, organizing, coordination,<br \/>\nmonitoring, implementation and evaluation. The intern will mentor and<br \/>\ntrain PCs in their respective districts to develop their skills and<br \/>\nconfidence to effectively carrying out their roles.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, the intern will:<br \/>\n*       Assess capacity needs of the two SRH PCs and develop and<br \/>\nimplement a capacity building plan with key milestones and deadlines<br \/>\n*       Support PCs and peer workers in conducting focus group<br \/>\ndiscussions with different population groups (women, men, young people,<br \/>\nleaders, etc) including both moderating and note-taking techniques<br \/>\n*       Support SRH PCs in the write up of focus group discussion<br \/>\nreports and other qualitative data that aim to pull out deeper rooted<br \/>\nissues associated with sexual and reproductive health rights and HIV and<br \/>\nAIDS<br \/>\n*       Support the PCs in analysis of doctor\/nurse and facility survey<br \/>\nquestionnaires and presentation of results to the District Steering<br \/>\nCommittees (DSCs)<br \/>\n*       Support the PCs in leading the district steering committees to<br \/>\ndevelop referral pathways for SRH and HIV and AIDS services<br \/>\n*       Support in identifying system gaps in SRH and HIV and AIDS<br \/>\nservices<br \/>\n*       Work with PCs in improving communication and information sharing<br \/>\n&#8211; presenting key points of concern and issues to address in DSC meetings<br \/>\nthat are clear, well-articulated and easy to understand<br \/>\n*       Support PCs in report writing and documentation of project<br \/>\nactivities<br \/>\n*       Share ideas and recommendations with the Information, Education<br \/>\nand Communication Committee (IEC)  (part of the DSC) for development and<br \/>\npre-testing of appropriate IEC materials<br \/>\n*       Provide recommendations for 16 Days of Activism and World AIDS<br \/>\nDay activities<br \/>\n*       Regularly share ideas and experiences that will contribute to<br \/>\nthe project&#8217;s Change Strategy<br \/>\n*       Other support as requested<\/p>\n<p>EXPECTED OUTPUTS<br \/>\nThe intern will provide training and hands-on support in carrying out<br \/>\nkey functions of the PC position. It is envisaged that by the end of the<br \/>\nthree-month internship, PCs will have:<br \/>\n*       Regularly and systematically monitored work plans and<br \/>\ndocumentation of all project activities<br \/>\n*       Conducted regular focus group discussions, written and submitted<br \/>\nreports<br \/>\n*       Conducted the doctor\/nurse and facility surveys, including<br \/>\ncollection and recording of data and analysis and presentation of<br \/>\nresults<br \/>\n*       Written detailed reports on Ministry of Health health worker<br \/>\ntrainings, including evaluation and follow-up plans<br \/>\n*       Facilitated regular meetings with DSC members, including<br \/>\ndevelopment of agendas, facilitation of meetings and writing up reports<br \/>\nof meeting including agreed action points<br \/>\n*       Developed referral mechanisms for SRH and HIV services in both<br \/>\ndistricts<br \/>\n*       Acted as an effective stakeholder liaison between the<br \/>\ncommunities, Oxfam GB, Ministry of Health (DDS), Provincial-level<br \/>\nMinistry of Health (DPS) and the District Steering Committees for the<br \/>\nproject<br \/>\n*       Fed into the development of a framework for documenting this<br \/>\nproject model and the process of integrating SRH services into HIV and<br \/>\nAIDS programming<\/p>\n<p>DOCUMENTATION<br \/>\n*       Training and evaluation reports<br \/>\n*       Capacity building plan<br \/>\n*       Weekly progress reports<br \/>\n*       Any tools developed (monitoring, documentation, IEC, etc.)<br \/>\n*       End of service report demonstrating how the internship<br \/>\nobjectives were met and recommendations<\/p>\n<p>INTERN SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES<\/p>\n<p>Essential<br \/>\nDynamic graduate student in public health, nursing, gender and<br \/>\ndevelopment studies, social or public policy or related field with a<br \/>\nfocus on SRH and\/or HIV and AIDS<\/p>\n<p>*       Experience &amp; Knowledge<br \/>\n&#8211;       Understanding of the deeper-rooted issues associated with SRH<br \/>\nand HIV and AIDS Understanding and interest in exploring issues related<br \/>\nto SRH\/rights and HIV and AIDS<br \/>\n&#8211;       Previous work with vulnerable, marginalized and excluded<br \/>\npopulations and persons living with HIV<br \/>\n&#8211;       Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse<br \/>\neducational, economic, age group and religious backgrounds.
