We have had several students from Tulane’s school of Public Health work with us over the last few years. The main outreach was either general health surveys with the Batwa pygmies or malaria projects. We now have a 65 bed hospital which offers a full range of services and a functioning “community outreach” program. One of our main efforts is with the Batwa pygmies who were displaced from the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in 1992. Our main projects over the next two years will be water\/sanitation, animal husbandry, malaria prevention and HIV\/AIDS. We have a treatment center for HIV under the Joint Clinical Research Center funded by USAID.<\/p>\n

As we are a mission hospital we cannot offer stipends. We suggest that students spend a minimum of 4-6 weeks with us. Our charge is $100\/week room and board.<\/p>\n
