The Berrien County Health Department (of Southwestern Michigan) desires to fill a current vacancy for an Epidemiologist.<\/p>\n

EPIDEMIOLOGIST – Starting at $52,271<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

Required:<\/strong> Possession of a Masters of Public Health degree with a major in Epidemiology OR a Masters degree in a Public Health field with a minimum of 12 combined graduate level term hours or 8 semester hours in epidemiology and biostatistics courses.<\/p>\n

Possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license and vehicle.<\/p>\n

Desired:<\/strong> One (1) year experience working in a public health agency in communicable disease and\/or epidemiology.\u00a0 Thorough knowledge of skills in public health and community organization theory.\u00a0 Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.\u00a0 Thorough knowledge and familiarity with state, regional and county health, social and educational agencies which impact upon health at the local level.\u00a0 Demonstrated decision-making ability and problem solving skills. Ability to initiate, coordinate and implement policies, procedures and programs to meet agency goals and objectives.\u00a0 Computer literacy with a variety of applications as they apply to department functions, statistical analysis and reporting.<\/p>\n

Duties:<\/strong> Performs epidemiological and statistical analyses on data and prepares results for the Berrien County Health Department, Healthy Berrien Consortium<\/em>, other health and social agencies and the general public.\u00a0 Assembles databases for analysis of health problems and designs and manages surveillance systems for diseases of public health importance.\u00a0 Proposes or initiates epidemiological investigations of communicable disease outbreaks, chronic illness conditions, disease risk factors, or other adverse health outcomes.\u00a0 Identifies or proposes corrective action or interventions to prevent or alleviate public health problems based on epidemiological findings.\u00a0 Produces routine statistical summary reports and special reports as needed.\u00a0 Performs other work as assigned.<\/p>\n
