Chief of Party
\nEthiopia<\/p>\n
A Chief of Party is sought in Ethiopia. The Chief of Party (COP) will
\nprovide the vision, technical leadership and management oversight for
\nthe project in addition to the supervision, administration and
\nimplementation of the contract in the field. This individual will
\nestablish and maintain systems for project operations, ensure that all
\ncontractual deadlines are met and targets are achieved, maintain working
\nrelationships with project stakeholders and partners and oversee the
\npreparation and submission of periodic progress and financial reports.
\nThe COP will deal with partner organizations and coordinate with USAID
\nand other donors in all aspects of project planning, monitoring and
\nexecution.<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. level degree in
\ninternational education or related field. 10 years of experience
\nworking in education in developing countries, with special emphasis on
\nteacher development and development and production of teaching\/ learning
\nmaterials in Africa or other experience directly related to tasks in the
\nSOW. Eight to ten years of successful experience managing and providing
\ntechnical, administrative and financial guidance either as a COP of
\nsimilar senior-level position on international education projects;
\nexperience in strategic planning, managing and directing a large staff
\nand multiple sub-contractors on complex projects; experience managing a
\nnational intervention with large budget; and excellent written and oral

Deputy Chief of Party
\nEthiopia<\/p>\n
A Deputy Chief of Party is sought in Ethiopia. The Deputy Chief of
\nParty (DCOP) will provide support to the COP for vision, technical
\nleadership and management oversight for the project. The DCOP will play
\nan essential role coordinating and managing relations with partner
\norganizations and institutions, monitoring and evaluation and impact
\nreporting. This individual will support and maintain systems for project
\noperations, helping to ensure that all contractual deadlines are met and
\ntargets are achieved. The DCOP will deal with partner organizations and
\ncoordinate with USAID and other donors in specified aspects of project
\nplanning, monitoring and execution.<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified candidates will have an advanced degree in
\neducation, management or related field; 8 years of experience working in
\neducation in Africa or other field directly related to the tasks in the
\nSOW; and 8 years of experience working in education, human capacity
\ndevelopment and educational research. Candidates must have experience in
\nmanaging teacher development program interventions, especially in
\nprimary education; an understanding of quality and gender issues in
\nbasic education; and strong knowledge of the MOE, RSEBs, TEIs and
\nworedas. Excellent English oral and written communication skills are
\nessential. Candidates with proficiency or better level of Amharic;
\nknowledge of USAID regulations; and a detailed understanding of
\nEthiopia’s education sector, planning and management and education
