Country Director\/Chief of Party

Mercy Corps seeks a Country Director\/ Chief of Party in Iraq. Mercy
\nCorps has operated in Iraq since 2003, implementing both emergency
\nresponse and longer term development programs that are assisting Iraqis
\n– internally displaced persons host communities and other vulnerable
\ngroups throughout the country. While remaining responsive to the urgent
\nneeds of those affected by conflict and displacement in Iraq, Mercy
\nCorps also aims to incorporate development activities into its
\nprogramming, with a focus on identified strategic priority areas.<\/p>\n
The Country Director\/ Chief of Party is a senior leadership position for
\nMercy Corps in Iraq with supervisory and managerial responsibility over
\nall in-country personnel, programs and policies. Among the Country
\nDirector’s duties: S\/he is responsible for ensuring staff safety and
\nsecurity, providing overall leadership and direction as well as ensuring
\ncompliance with agency Minimum Operating Standards. The Country Director
\nwill be responsible for developing and implementing the overall
\nstrategic plan for programming in cooperation with Mercy Corps’ senior
\nmanagement team and local and international partners and developing
\nproposals and pursuing funding opportunities as well as overseeing
\nprogram implementation.<\/p>\n
DUTIES: Set direction by prioritizing and organizing actions and
\nresources to achieve program and agency objectives. Evaluate program
\npriorities within the country and participate in regional
\nprioritization. Explore, evaluate and present new country and project
\nfunding opportunities that leverage impact and integrate initiatives and
\nactivities. Support and direct related fund-raising activities with both
\ninstitutional and private donors. Lead the Iraq Annual Planning Process
\nand create a country summary report, consisting of Statement of Vision,
\nGoals and Annual Objectives, and Country Program and Budget Summaries.
\nProvide timely quarterly reporting on this plan and strategic updates to
\nensure the plan is a living, responsive document. Recommend program
\npriorities and explore, evaluate and present new country and regional
\nproject opportunities that leverage impact and\/or complement Mercy
\nCorps’ activities regionally and globally. Please see website for more.<\/p>\n
REQUIREMENTS: MA or equivalent in social science or management. 7 to 10
\nyears of field experience in international relief and development
\nprograms. Five years practical experience in community-based
\nprogramming, capacity building, NGO management and knowledge of
