Sexual and Gender Based Violence Advisor\/ Gender Based Violence
\nCoordinator Middle East<\/p>\n
The International Rescue Committee is seeking two Gender Based Violence
\nprofessionals for our programs in the Middle East. The Sexual and
\nGender Based Violence (SGBV) Advisor, seconded to UNHCR Syria, will be
\nresponsible for assisting UNHCR and its partners to build upon existing
\nefforts to develop mechanisms to prevent and respond to sexual and
\ngender-based violence as well as to enhance access to existing relevant
\nservices. The SGBV Advisor will be responsible for identifying the
\ncultural, social and political challenges in developing prevention of
\nand response to sexual and gender-based violence programming and
\ncoordination in general. The SGBV Advisor will provide technical
\nleadership in assessing needs, developing appropriate strategies (i.e.
\nestablishment of relevant services), providing technical guidance and
\ncoordinating efforts between relevant international, local and state
\nactors.<\/p>\n
The Gender Based Violence (GBV) Coordinator will be responsible for the
\ndevelopment and implementation of IRC’s strategy to address GBV in the
\nMiddle East. They must ensure that all interventions are technically
\nsound and appropriate in meeting the needs of GBV survivors and affected
\ncommunities. The GBV Coordinator will also be responsible for improving
\nthe technical capacity of local partners in providing relevant services.
\nS\/he will actively contribute to the development of GBV projects in
\nJordan and ultimately supervise their implementation. The Coordinator
\nwill identify and develop GBV projects and points of entry for the IRC
\nGBV program in Syria and Iraq, as required.<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS: Extensive experience in GBV issues and fluency in
\nEnglish and Arabic are required for both positions. Experience working
\nin the Middle East is a plus.<\/p>\n
