Open Position: Population Health Specialist (Occupational Health)

HPM Corporation, a subcontractor to the occupational medicine provider
\nat a large federal government environmental restoration site in
\nSoutheastern Washington State, has a need for a Population Health
\nSpecialist at the AdvanceMed Hanford Occupational Health Services Clinic
\nin Richland, Washington. The organizational role of this position is to
\napply public health principles and approaches to the identification,
\nprevention and mitigation of adverse health impacts from the
\noccupational environment. Specific responsibilities include, but are
\nnot limited to:<\/p>\n
1. Serve as the organizational expert in the coordination of
\nrisk-based medical surveillance programs with employer sponsored safety
\nand health programs and act as the chair to the committee responsible
\nfor bringing recommendations for enhancements or modifications to
\nmedical surveillance programs\/tools to the Site Occupational Medical
\nDirector (SOMD).
\n2. Serve as the Employee Job Task Analysis (EJTA) system
\nadministrator (tool used to describe worker job functions, hazards and
\nanticipated exposure levels for determination of appropriate medical
\nsurveillance exam components). Provide direct customer service and
\ntraining to contractor management and industrial hygienists on the use
\nof the application.
\n3. Participate in the analysis of occupational health data to
\nidentify sentinel events, trends, adverse health outcomes, and other
\ninformation related to the understanding of the health of a worker
\npopulation.
\n4. Provide interpretation of data and develop reports for the
\npurpose of program\/policy development. Collaborate with the SOMD,
\nphysicians, and Risk Communicator to communicate results to the
\nDepartment of Energy, Hanford Site contractors, workers, and other
\nstakeholders.
\n5. Collaborate with colleagues to evaluate, develop
\nrecommendations, resources and\/or health interventions to address
\ncurrent worker health and safety challenges such as aging workforce,
\nergonomics, etc.
\n6. Act as the Hanford Site Beryllium Registry Data Coordinator and
\nsupport Hanford Site Beryllium Programs.<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements:
\n1. A Masters degree (MS or MPH), with an emphasis in occupational
\nhealth, environmental health or medicine, public health, industrial
\nhygiene, or related field.
\n2. At least five years experience in collection, analysis, and
\ninterpretation of population health data.
\n3. Excellent organizational, analytical, written and verbal
\ncommunication skills.
\n4. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office products,
\nparticularly Excel.
\n5. Ability to plan projects, meet deadlines and provide written and
\nverbal summaries of work to diverse audiences.
\n6. Ability to independently and collaboratively organize agendas
\nand topics for integrated meetings and other forums.
\n7. Ability to prepare technical reports, records, correspondence,
\nand professional papers related to the work.
\n8. Demonstrated ability to interface and interact with individuals
\nfrom other organizations, including regulatory authorities and
\nstakeholders in potentially stressful situations.<\/p>\n
Must be eligible for Department of Energy access authorization and pass
\na background check.<\/p>\n
