\nInternship Opportunity
\nSummer 2008<\/p>\n
The Food For Families Project (FFF), a collaboration between the
\nMassachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Project Bread – The Walk For
\nHunger (PB) is looking for a full-time research assistant for the summer
\n2008.<\/p>\n
The FFF identifies hunger among families of pediatric patients and
\nassists the families to access Food Stamps and other food resources. The
\nproject includes six community health centers in the Greater Boston
\narea. In addition to establishing a model for identifying hunger among
\nfamilies and assisting the families to access food resources in a clinic
\nsetting, the project was designed to determine its effect on
\nnutritional, medical and behavioral outcomes for children and their
\nfamilies. The evaluation of the project also will explore: 1) the
\noperational issues in implementing hunger screening and assistance in
\ncommunity health center practices; 2) the financial implications of
\nimplementing hunger screening and an intervention on the health centers;
\nand 3) whether reimbursement of a hunger screening and intervention by
\npayers, such as Medicaid, is supported.<\/p>\n
Job Description<\/p>\n
The Research Assistant will assist in the collection, review and
\nreporting of data for the FFF; and in the conduct of the project’s
\nresearch and evaluation.<\/p>\n
The consulting position is 40 hours per week during the summer 2008,
\nwith the possibility for continued part-time consulting during the
\n2008-09 academic year.<\/p>\n
Specific duties include:<\/p>\n
* Work with health centers and project staff to ensure that the
\ndata are submitted to the project according to the agreed upon
\nschedules; and that the data are complete and accurate.
\n* Develop and produce regular activity reports for review by the
\nsites, and project management staff.
\n* Conduct analyses, and assist in the development of research
\npapers and presentations.<\/p>\n
Qualifications<\/p>\n
Master’s degree and research experience preferred. Familiarity with
\nAccess and\/or SPSS also preferred. Strong organizational skills,
\nattention to detail, and good people skills required.<\/p>\n
