Project Summary:<\/strong><\/td>\nThe Center for Health Communication plans and develops science-based national, regional and local social marketing and health communication programs, and provides program support to clients including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health, private associations and foundations. CHC staff members work on health issues and projects including obesity prevention, immunization, coordinated school health, media literacy and continuing education for health professionals.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Position Summary:<\/strong><\/td>\nUnder the direct supervision of the Senior Marketing and Communication Specialist, the Program Assistant’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, providing program, administrative, and financial support to staff in intensive and fast start-up communication projects.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Essential Job Functions:<\/strong><\/td>\nAssist in the preparation and production of project reports, presentations and other documents;<\/p>\n

Maintain specific activity files and other resource materials in an organized, accessible and up-to-date manner;<\/p>\n

Conduct press and Internet monitoring of issues related to project activities;<\/p>\n

Assist in data collection and computer data input as needed;<\/p>\n

Perform a variety of administrative duties including word processing, drafting routine correspondence, monitoring fax receipt and transmission, mail and express-mail and photocopying;<\/p>\n

Assist in the administrative facilitation of project activities such as meetings, appointments, or other business communications with project staff, client and partnering organizations’ staff;<\/p>\n

Assist with conference and workshop preparation;<\/p>\n

Arrange travel for project staff and consultants; check, submit and tracking expense reimbursements;<\/p>\n

Assist technical staff with other administrative tasks as assigned.<\/p>\n

Education:<\/strong><\/td>\nBachelors in one of the following or related fields: Anthropology, Behavior Change Communications, Behavioral Science, Communications , Community Health Education, Education, Health Ed. & Behavioral Science, Health Promotion, Higher Education, Marketing, Mass Communications and Public Health required or equivalent combination of education and work experience.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Experience:<\/strong><\/td>\n1 year(s) of relevant experience required<\/p>\n

Specific Knowledge Requirements:<\/span>
\nInternship and volunteer experience with business\/non-profit environment or equivalent combination of education and experience;<\/p>\n

Experience with logistics, contracts, budgets and financial skills extremely helpful;<\/p>\n

Interest in health communication helpful.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Special Requirements:<\/strong><\/td>\nThis job will require a criminal background check.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Skills:<\/strong><\/td>\nExcellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage details;<\/p>\n

Strong verbal and written communication capability;<\/p>\n

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals;<\/p>\n

Expertise in word-processing (MS Word) required;<\/p>\n

Familiarity with Explorer, Excel, Access and PowerPoint is preferred.<\/p>\n

Experience with, or willingness to learn HTML coding and using web development application software such as Dreamweaver, Frontpage, etc. is bonus.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
