We provide opportunities for training and experience for students at the School of Public Health, as well as current public health practitioners.\u00a0 Our program, guided by the twelve <a href=\"http:\/\/leadership.mchtraining.net\/\">MCH leadership competencies<\/a>,\u00a0also collaborates with other members of the wider community.<\/p>\n<p>Among our offerings is the <strong>CEMCH Scholar Program<\/strong>, which provides mentored self-development activities to help students become leaders in the field of maternal and child health. This four-semester program includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Shadowing rotations<\/li>\n<li>Service outreach<\/li>\n<li>Self-reflection<\/li>\n<li>Readings and discussion<\/li>\n<li>5-year development plan<\/li>\n<li>Mentoring meetings<\/li>\n<li>Conference opportunities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>MPH students entering in Fall (or summer) 2020<\/li>\n<li>US Citizen or permanent resident<\/li>\n<li>Enrolled in the Tulane GCHB department, in the MCH program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>For the incoming cohort, Scholars are expected to benefit from the following\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Shadowing rotations with three local organizations (Semesters 1 and 2)<\/li>\n<li>Community service outreach with one local organization, or mentored research, or advocacy training (Semesters 3 and 4)<\/li>\n<li>Participation in workshops for development of personal and professional skills (one each semester, Semesters 1-4)<\/li>\n<li>Providing mini-lectures, on MCH interests and goals, to public health undergraduates at Tulane and Xavier (Semesters 3 and 4)<\/li>\n<li>Additional personal development activities (throughout)<\/li>\n<li>Weekly group meetings and monthly individual mentoring meetings (throughout)<\/li>\n<li>Support to national conferences (annually)<\/li>\n<li>Small stipend (each semester)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Due to COVID-19 precautions, these activities will take place virtually for the time being. Scholars are expected to set aside an approximately 6 \u2013 9 hours per week throughout the school year, to enable their successful completion of program requirements.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>To apply, submit:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>an updated resume or CV<\/li>\n<li>a cover letter detailing your interests in the field of maternal and child health and commitment to and interest in the Scholar program<\/li>\n<li>your transcript (unofficial version is fine \u2013 if you are a student who started in the summer, please include your Tulane transcript, in addition to your undergraduate one)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications should be submitted by email to Shokufeh Ramirez (<\/strong><a href=\"mailto:sramirez@tulane.edu\"><strong>sramirez@tulane.edu<\/strong><\/a><strong>), <u>by Monday, August 10<\/u>.<\/strong> All applicants should also plan to meet by Zoom (or phone) with program staff <u>August 11\u00a0 &#8211; 12<\/u>; please indicate in your cover letter general availability for these days.
