{"id":2714,"date":"2017-06-14T10:04:30","date_gmt":"2017-06-14T15:04:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mchtulane.wordpress.com\/?p=2714"},"modified":"2017-06-14T10:04:30","modified_gmt":"2017-06-14T15:04:30","slug":"webinar-series-preventing-risk-behavior-by-building-resilience-among-youth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thatscourtney.space\/blueprint\/webinar-series-preventing-risk-behavior-by-building-resilience-among-youth\/","title":{"rendered":"Webinar Series: Preventing Risk Behavior by Building Resilience Among Youth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Join ASTHO and the CDC to learn how state health agencies can collaborate with educational and tribal health agencies to implement programs that increase youth protective factors to prevent youth health risk behavior.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.astho.org\/addictions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017 ASTHO President\u2019s Challenge<\/a> highlights that increasing protective factors is a key primary prevention strategy to prevent risk behavior such as substance misuse.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pediatrics.umn.edu\/divisions\/general-pediatrics-and-adolescent-health\/programs-centers\/healthy-youth-development-prevention-research-center\">Healthy Youth Development Prevention Research Cente<\/a>r at the University of Minnesota is implementing Partnering for Healthy Student Outcomes, a two-part program that increases educational attainment and reduces risk behavior for middle school students though in-class, evidence-based social-emotional learning and teacher professional development.\u00a0Presenters\u00a0will discuss how increasing protective factors through programs improve health and academic outcomes and how states can incorporate protective factor measures in state surveillance systems.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oregonprc.org\/\">Oregon Health and Science University Center for Healthy Communities\u00a0<\/a>and Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board are collaborating to disseminate and evaluate Native STAND (Students Together Against Negative Decisions), an evidence-based program that improves decision-making skills to prevent early pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections \u00a0and substance use for Native American high school students.\u00a0Presenters will describe strategies for engaging tribal health agencies to develop programs for Native American youth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>Date: June 15th, 2017<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>Time- 3:00 PM &#8211; 4:00 PM EST<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">\u00a0Register for this webinar\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cc.readytalk.com\/registration\/#\/?meeting=so1oo1ak1b53&amp;campaign=lith86hoqqei\">HERE<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Join ASTHO and the CDC to learn how state health agencies can collaborate with educational and tribal health agencies to implement programs that increase youth protective factors to prevent youth health risk behavior.
