Equity Strategist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2584 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/mchtulane.files.wordpress.com\/2017\/06\/download-2.jpg\" alt=\"download-2.jpg\" width=\"377\" height=\"134\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The New Orleans Health Department is seeking a full-time\u00a0Health and Equity Strategist to lead the Health Department\u2019s efforts to eliminate health disparities and ensure health for all in New Orleans.\u00a0This endeavor requires visionary leadership and an ability to work within the NOHD, with other City Departments and with community partners to broaden the understanding of what creates health in New Orleans.\u00a0 The Health and Equity Strategist will utilize the NOHD\u2019s Equity Framework as a starting point to conduct structural analysis of policies and practices and to develop a \u201chealth in all polices\u201d work plan that focuses on the social determinants of health.\u00a0 In addition, this position will direct the NOHD violence prevention programs and staff which include community violence prevention, youth violence prevention, school-based and trauma-informed initiatives including restorative justice and positive behavioral support programs (PBIS) and NOHD\u2019s community response to domestic violence.<\/p>\n<h2>Job Responsibilities:<\/h2>\n<p>Champion racial equity and social justice, developing strategies to explicitly address the health impacts of racism, poverty and gender discrimination.<br \/>\nBuild capacity and infrastructure to promote equity within the NOHD divisions and programs.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Facilitate the department\u2019s Health Equity Action Team (HEAT), a cadre of staff leading equity-focused organizational improvement initiatives.<\/li>\n<li>Develop health equity trainings and professional development opportunities for NOHD staff and community partners.<\/li>\n<li>Support NOHD staff in re-focusing existing programs through an equity lens and developing new programs to reduce health disparities.<\/li>\n<li>Develop communications strategies to build awareness and understanding of the NOHD\u2019s equity framework across City Departments.<\/li>\n<li>Engage community partners across the city in strategies to promote equity.<\/li>\n<li>Promote systems, structural and policy changes that enable health for all.<\/li>\n<li>Build cross-sector partnerships to address the social determinants of health.<\/li>\n<li>Leverage data to make the case for health equity and to measure improvements in health outcomes.<\/li>\n<li>Engage City and community agencies and leaders in conversations and action to increase community voice in the development of violence prevention strategies.<\/li>\n<li>Supervise and guide the NOHD\u2019s violence prevention programs, supporting program staff and fostering collaboration to develop joint prevention strategies to address multiple forms of violence<\/li>\n<li>Pursue funding opportunities in support of Health Department priorities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more details <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nola.gov\/jobs\/health-equity-strategist\/\">Click Here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Please submit a\u00a0resume and cover letter to\u00a0Human Resources jdbell@nola.gov<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The New Orleans Health Department is seeking a full-time\u00a0Health and Equity Strategist to lead the Health Department\u2019s efforts to eliminate health disparities and ensure health for all in New Orleans.\u00a0This endeavor requires visionary leadership and an ability to work within the NOHD, with other City Departments and with community partners to broaden the understanding of [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[78,112],"class_list":["post-2571","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-general-posts","tag-health-equity","tag-job-opportunity"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Full-Time Job Opportunity: New Orleans Health Department Health &amp;
