Project Title:<\/strong> Community Health Assessment Intern<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Background on the Project: <\/strong>The New Orleans Health Department (NOHD) seeks to address population-level health issues so that all New Orleanians can achieve their full potential. A hallmark of this is the Community Health Improvement (CHI) process, out of which came the first city-wide Community Health Assessment (CHA) and Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). These planning tools have guided NOHD, partners, and stakeholders. NOHD will continue its CHI work by updating these tools to ensure that collaborative efforts are focused on the most pressing health issues affecting residents. NOHD and the CHI Steering Committee will utilize the Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships (MAPP) framework to guide CHI activities. The intern will work closely with the CHI Coordinator, CHI Steering Committee, local public health partners, and broader community to plan and implement the 4 MAPP Assessments. The intern will compile and analyze data in a report summarizing assessment findings that will be shared with internal participants and that will inform the Community Health Profile report. NOHD strongly desires for the CHA to reflect its departmental focus on health equity and envisions the CHA being a strong example of how the Department and City government can incorporate a Health Equity lens in their work. Students Responsibilities and Activities:<\/strong> NOHD will require having a set schedule for the CHI practicum, yet will allow for flexibility as it is needed to accommodate major practicum events and student conflicts. The recommended number of hours worked per week is 20. Following this recommendation, the approximate start date will be within the week of May 15th<\/sup>and end date within the week of August 28th.
