{"id":2436,"date":"2017-04-28T13:38:20","date_gmt":"2017-04-28T18:38:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mchtulane.wordpress.com\/?p=2436"},"modified":"2017-04-28T13:38:20","modified_gmt":"2017-04-28T18:38:20","slug":"racing-towards-equity-series-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thatscourtney.space\/blueprint\/racing-towards-equity-series-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"Racing Towards Equity Series Recap!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">The <strong>Racing Toward Equity Series,<\/strong> hosted by the Diversity and Health Equity Peer Learning Collaborative at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine was a series of three seminars intended to address the various forms of racism, understanding of it&#8217;s system level structures, and ways one can be involved in overcoming the challenges related to this work.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">The American Public Health Association&#8217;s webinar &#8220;Quantifying Racism to Understand and Address Health Disparities&#8221; was used in two of three seminars.&#8221; The webinar includes an introduction to racism and health disparities, a discussion of implementation and measurement challenges in public health research, a discussion on the measurement of the physiologic impacts of racism on health, and the lessons learned from the the work and how to overcome challenges.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><strong>First Seminar &#8220;Naming Racism&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-2482 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/mchtulane.files.wordpress.com\/2017\/04\/naming-racism_finalized.jpg\" alt=\"Naming Racism_Finalized\" width=\"170\" height=\"238\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">This seminar included viewing the first part of the webinar- the National Campaign Against Racism.
