The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and skilled communicator who can serve as the organization\u2019s primary public spokesperson and fundraising leader. The position requires the ability to balance visioning and strategic planning with day-to-day supervision of staff as well as coordination with the Board and OBOS founders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">All applicants should have familiarity with the content and philosophy of OBOS (the books as well as the organization\u2019s work as reflected on its website and in its programmatic activities) and possess a strong commitment to expanding OBOS\u2019 involvement with all women, including women from communities of color, immigrant and refugee women, women in prison, and women with disabilities. Applicants should also be sensitive to issues surrounding gender identity and gender expression, and, preferably, have a background in women\u2019s health.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Applicants must be available to work in the Greater Boston area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">\n<p class=\"p3\">Click &#8220;more&#8221; to read full description.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Leadership Qualities and Characteristics<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Applicants should be feminists capable of envisioning and helping to implement effective means of advancing the health and human rights of women and girls globally. We seek an Executive Director who is:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Dynamic, entrepreneurial, and inspirational<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">A highly motivated self-starter with demonstrated ability to lead a nonprofit, public, or professional organization<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Committed to building coalitions, engaging with diverse constituencies, and maintaining strong communication and synergy among Board members, staff, founders, donors, and volunteers<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Skills<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Ability to design, obtain funding for, and implement programs, projects, and public activities to study, synthesize, and disseminate the best available information about how to improve women\u2019s health<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Ability to conceive, develop, and execute creative, successful fundraising strategies<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Excellent communications skills<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Budgeting and financial skills<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Ability to develop partnerships and alliances with individuals and other institutions as well as build effective, collegial working relationships with staff members<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Cross-cultural competency, preferably including some global travel and knowledge of Spanish or another language<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Demonstrated advocacy skills on behalf of mission-driven organizations<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Responsibilities<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Oversee finances and fundraising, including spearheading initiatives to obtain funds from foundations, public agencies, and individual donors<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Establish clear program objectives and priorities<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Oversee communications, marketing, and all print and digital publications<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Leverage OBOS\u2019 assets, including editorial content and brand<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Develop policy in the areas covered by OBOS\u2019 mission<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Manage and oversee all operations<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Supervise staff and volunteers<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Collaborate with leaders of other organizations<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Serve as the primary media spokesperson, representing OBOS at conferences and meetings to advance the organization\u2019s vision and mission<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Experience<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably some of which is international, managing a nonprofit, public, or professional organization<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Working with diverse communities of women and\/or managing a team committed to feminist values<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Speaking at conferences, public gatherings, and to the media<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Salary<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">$80,000 \u2013 $90,000<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>To Apply<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Please send a cover letter and resume by March 1, 2016 to Joan Rachlin, Search Committee Chair, at <a href=\"mailto:EDSearch@ourbodiesourselves.org\"><span class=\"s2\">EDSearch@ourbodiesourselves.org<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Job Description Our Bodies Ourselves (OBOS), a highly respected feminist nonprofit organization, seeks an Executive Director who is passionate about women\u2019s health and social justice to lead its essential work.
