The <em>Blueprint for Safety<\/em> is a singular philosophically based model policy that coordinates each criminal justice agency\u2019s response to domestic violence; including, 911, Law Enforcement, the Sheriff\u2019s Office, Prosecution &amp; DA Victim Advocates, Probation &amp; Parole, Court Administration and the New Orleans Family Justice Center. The intern who fills this position will assist the Project\u2019s Interagency Coordinator in facilitating the criminal justice agencies\u2019 implementation of the New Orleans <em>Blueprint for Safety<\/em>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Fields of study may include, but are not limited to: Criminal Justice, Women\u2019s Studies (including any study of domestic violence), Political Science, Public Affairs or Pre-Law (including policy writing\/analysis), Public Health, Ethnic Studies, or Social Sciences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <em>Blueprint<\/em> Project offers a dynamic multi-faceted internship that includes working with each of the above named agencies and attending inter-agency working groups and meetings. The internship will primarily focus on two aspects of the Project, addressing impact disparities in the development of <em>Blueprint<\/em> policies and analyzing domestic violence arrests and case dispositions locally and nationally. The 2015 summer intern will work with a team of local advocates to engage the community of African-American women arrested for domestic violence in order to develop policies and practices that avoid unintended consequences. The intern will also work with the NOPD and other agencies in processing and analyzing domestic violence case information.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The intern is expected to commit 40 hours per week. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Input domestic violence data from the NOPD into <em>Blueprint <\/em>database and produce statistical reports for NOPD COMSTAT<\/li>\n<li>Prepare an annual aggregate public report based on <em>Blueprint<\/em> database<\/li>\n<li>Develop recommendations for the <em>Blueprint<\/em> Project based on analysis of database<\/li>\n<li>Organize and conduct focus groups of survivors and practitioners &amp; work with the <em>Blueprint<\/em> Team to incorporate information learned into <em>Blueprint<\/em> policy and practice<\/li>\n<li>Analyze and code police reports; compare and cross analyze data with focus group information in order to develop recommendations on avoiding impact disparities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Well-organized, detail oriented and analytical<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel<\/li>\n<li>Strong research, writing and networking skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to organize and process data<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application: <\/strong>Please provide a cover letter, resume, list of references and writing sample to Amalfi Parker Elder, akparker@nola.gov.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The New Orleans Health Department\u2019s Blueprint for Safety Project is offering a graduate level summer internship.
