MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH DATA MANAGER<\/p>\n
Position Description:
\nThe Maternal and Child Health (MCH) program is seeking a Data Manager to
\nwork at the Office of Public Heath in Metairie, Louisiana. The Data
\nManager will work with Senior MCH epidemiologists and program
\ncoordinators\/directors to perform linkage and analytic techniques that
\nmake the best use of available data, resources, and technology. The data
\nmanager will be responsible for assisting in surveillance and
\nepidemiologic activities including the following:<\/p>\n
– Maintain appropriate MCH data sets in a central location on the
\nOPH restricted access network drive. Data will be obtained from the
\nfollowing programs at minimum: health statistics, including fetal death,
\ndeath, birth, and hospital discharge data; Women, Infant, and Child
\n(WIC) program; STD program; Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) program; and
\nPregnancy Risk Assessment and Monitoring System (PRAMS). Additional data
\nsources will be added as available.
\n– Coordinate in producing annual MCH data profiles: These profiles
\nprovide data of MCH indicators based on Healthy People 2010 Objectives
\nat the parish, regional, and state level using vital records and PRAMS
\ndata.
\n– Participate in data linkages between various data sets such as:
\nVital records, Hospital discharge data, Medicaid, WIC, Sexual
\nTransmitted Disease (STD), NFP, US Census, etc.
\n– Analyze epidemiologic study and\/or survey research data using
\nadvanced statistical techniques.
\n– Map birth outcomes to define high-risk areas by addresses, zip
\ncodes, parishes, and region.
\n– Work with the Child Care Health Consultant Program to analyze
\nthe consultant activity reports data and write quarterly reports on
\nfindings.
\n– Create and update forms\/ program databases using MS Access to
\nenable program staff to enter their data from various MCH surveys.<\/p>\n
Qualifications:
\nRequired Skills:
\n– Education, experience, and\/or training equivalent to a Masters
\ndegree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics \/ Mathematics, or a
\nrelated field. Candidates should have strong database skills as well as
\nstatistical and analytic skills.
