POSITION SUMMARY<\/div>\n
The Virginia No Kid Hungry Program Manager will manage all aspects of the campaign to end childhood hunger in Virginia, which works to increase access to and participation in federal food and nutrition programs for eligible families and their children. The manager will facilitate the continued development of the No Kid Hungry campaign in the state of Virginia.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<\/p>\n

\n
    \n
  • Manage the Virginia No Kid Hungry program to end childhood hunger.<\/li>\n
  • Identify opportunities for the Virginia No Kid Hungry Campaign to expand its role within Virginia working with the Office of the First Lady of Virginia, Virginia state agencies and other statewide non-profits.<\/li>\n
  • Work in conjunction with local non-profit partners and Share Our Strength Headquarters staff to implement a state childhood hunger advocacy, communications, and marketing plan aimed at increasing participation in federal nutrition programs among eligible families with children.<\/li>\n
  • Coordinate and convene meetings with elected officials, policymakers, government agencies, and direct service providers to promote the efforts of the No Kid Hungry Campaign around increasing participation in school breakfast and summer meals.<\/li>\n
  • Work with local advocacy groups and community-based organizations to assess their needs and support their work in delivering child food and nutrition programs.<\/li>\n
  • Cultivate and develop new partners for Virginia No Kid Hungry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

    QUALIFICATIONS<\/div>\n
    \n
      \n
    • Commitment to the mission of Share Our Strength, and to anti-hunger work in Virginia, passion for the issue.<\/li>\n
    • Bachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s degree preferred.<\/li>\n
    • A minimum of 5-7 years of work experience.<\/li>\n
    • Candidate must be a self-starter, as the position is working in a satellite office.<\/li>\n
    • Experience with Virginia State government and an understanding of local political sensitivities is required.<\/li>\n
    • Experience or knowledge of federal nutrition programs preferred.<\/li>\n
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills required, with public presentation experience.<\/li>\n
    • Ability to develop a campaign strategy and plan, and ability to translate that into results.<\/li>\n
    • Experience with project, budget and team management.<\/li>\n
    • Ability to work well with multiple groups of people and diverse populations.<\/li>\n
    • Ability to work at a fast pace with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.<\/li>\n
    • Ability to handle multiple activities, events and projects simultaneously.<\/li>\n
    • Short and long-range planning and follow-through skills.<\/li>\n
    • Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.<\/li>\n
    • Ability to travel is required. Must provide own transportation for in-state travel.<\/li>\n
    • Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n
