The position will report to the Program Director of Healthy Start New Orleans.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Job Requirements<\/span>: Bachelor\u2019s degree and 2 years\u2019 experience with project\/program implementation. Master\u2019s Degree may substitute for 1 year experience. Experience in organizing and building community collaboration, including both high-level and grassroots stakeholders. Proven track record and experience working with diverse partnerships \u2013 including other coalitions, program staff, community members, and clients \u2013 to achieve goals.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">About Best Babies Zone<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1518 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/mchtulane.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/08\/bbz-logo.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"bbz logo\" width=\"167\" height=\"167\" \/><\/span>: New Orleans is one of three cities selected nationally by the Kellogg Foundation to implement a Best Babies Zone (BBZ) and work in partnership with national leaders to change outcomes for families. BBZ is an innovative, multi-sector approach that mobilizes local partners in defined neighborhood zones to ensure that all babies have the best chance to thrive and reach their full potential. The New Orleans BBZ is focused on the Hollygrove neighborhood; in 2012, nearly 20% of babies born in a three-quarter mile section of Hollygrove were born with low birth weights.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Works with the clients, community, and staff to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Provide leadership to collectively create the vision and plans for the Best Babies Zone (BBZ) in coordination with Healthy Start New Orleans (HSNO).<\/li>\n<li>Have overall responsibility for program development and implementation.<\/li>\n<li>Responsibility for compliance and adherence to grant performance measures and deliverables.<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for decisions regarding appropriate data collection and performance measures that will define the outcomes for the project.<\/li>\n<li>Assure collaboration of HSNO staff and the BBZ project for greatest opportunity for success.<\/li>\n<li>Identify and work with community partners working toward like goals to affect collective impact around issues of poor birth outcomes, environmental stressors and social determinants of health.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Strong writing skills.<\/li>\n<li>Identify and pursue potential sources of program funding, including federal and philanthropic grants.<\/li>\n<li>Represent the agency in the community as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Work as the point person to other city agencies working in the BBZ.<\/li>\n<li>Raise community awareness and educate about available services, the status of relevant legislation and the information regarding zonal approaches to public health and other related maternal child health issues through newsletters, pamphlets, public speaking and other means.<\/li>\n<li>Oversight of outreach staff and case management staff assigned to the BBZ.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Essential Knowledge and Skills:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed. Examples of skills that are needed to perform this job include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to advocate for and commit to agency and departmental goals and programs.<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge of issues surrounding poor birth outcomes and infant mortality.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing to communicate with the diverse impacted communities, government entities, the media, donors and others critical to the organizations\u2019 success.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to record, organize, analyze and present data with accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.<\/li>\n<li>Self-motivated and disciplined.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work effectively in groups and collaborative environment.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with collective impact approach to implementing social change.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to span sectors and engage non-health partners to work toward improving health outcomes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Other<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Will be expected to respond to public health emergencies.<\/li>\n<li>Will require non-traditional working hours on occasion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">General Statement of Duties<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Program Lead for the Best Babies Zone (BBZ) Project, guides the operations of the BBZ program requirements. Duties include but are not limited to: ensures program consistency with the department&#8217;s mission and vision, and adherence to grant and contract requirements; coordinates the integration of Healthy Start and other community services for the BBZ; oversees program budgets and expenditures; represents the BBZ in external community coalition meetings; may act as liaison to community organizations and to other City departments on issues pertaining to the BBZ.
