Program Manager, Lutheran Malaria Initiative<\/strong>– Baltimore, MD<\/p>\n

PURPOSE:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Program Manager for the Lutheran Malaria Initiative (LMI) is responsible for project management and administration of LWR pan-regional Lutheran Malaria Initiative.\u00a0 Primary responsibilities include: (1) Project administration of LMI resources and grant opportunities; (2) Assist Deputy Regional Director, Africa in project management and support of LMI programs; (3) Secure and manage LMI related United States of America Government (USG) and foundation grants and funding.<\/p>\n

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

Lutheran Malaria Initiative Program Management and Administration<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assist the Deputy Regional Director in implementation of LWR malaria projects including the overall planning and management of all project activities.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Actively engage in the development of an LMI programmatic framework.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Maintain current information on partners, project implementation and evaluation.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assist the Deputy Director in measuring progress toward proposed program objectives<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Research, review and make recommendations on Malaria RFAs to appropriate regional team.<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Manage full and timely compliance with LWR policies and procedures for processing US Government and foundation grants.<\/p>\n

7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Work with Deputy Director and field staff to ensure submission of complete, high quality progress, financial and evaluation reports in accordance with LWR and USG guidelines. Assist with documentation of best practices and lessons learned during implementation.<\/p>\n

8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ensure timely submission to LWR Headquarters of monthly and quarterly progress and financial reports.<\/p>\n

9.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Compose and maintain up-to-date project-related documents for the Board of Directors, constituents and donors. Prepare reports, responses to inquiries, and project descriptions for internal use, as requested.<\/p>\n

10.\u00a0\u00a0 Create and maintain partner records (electronic, hard copy and database) that contain required elements for Patriot ACT compliance checks.<\/p>\n

11.\u00a0\u00a0 Keep abreast of development trends regarding public health, and particularly malaria.<\/p>\n

Fundraising and Constituent Education<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lead or assist regional teams in writing, preparing, and packaging proposals to submit to USG foundations, and other potential donors.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Represent LWR to USG representatives, peer NGOs and constituents.\u00a0 Maintain positive working relationships with USG representatives in order to facilitate donor relationships.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Update External Relations on new malaria related projects through direct projects, and US Government & foundation grants; coordinate any fundraising needs (i.e., request stories and photographs from malaria related projects on a regular basis).<\/p>\n

Teamwork<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Actively engage in the development and periodic review of LWR’s strategy, policies, procedures, manuals, and guidelines.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Policy and Advocacy<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Work with Public Policy Department to guide and strengthen LWR’s advocacy work in the US by sharing timely information from partners about developments related to emergencies in the regions.\u00a0 Make recommendations to the Public Policy Department regarding sign-on letters and other advocacy initiatives.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      REPORTS TO:<\/strong> Deputy Regional Director, Africa<\/p>\n

      QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Deep commitment to LWR’s core values and ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners.<\/li>\n
      2. At least three years experience working in a program-related, administrative capacity with an international development or humanitarian agency.<\/li>\n
      3. Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or the equivalent. A master’s degree is highly desirable.<\/li>\n
      4. Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in French required.<\/li>\n
      5. Familiarity with key public health, development, and socio-economic justice issues at a practical and policy level. Practical and intellectual familiarity with the specific countries where LWR works.<\/li>\n
      6. Familiarity with rules and regulations that apply to funding from U.S. Government agencies.<\/li>\n
      7. Experience in financial management.<\/li>\n
      8. Ability to be accurate and attentive to detail.<\/li>\n
      9. Ability to prioritize, organize, and carry out multiple tasks efficiently under pressure and with little supervision; ability to accept supervision.<\/li>\n
      10. Highly proficient in using Word, Excel, Outlook, database and web browser software.<\/li>\n
      11. Good interpersonal skills, ability to be both a team leader and a team player and to work with people of varied backgrounds.<\/li>\n
      12. Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally (up to 30% of time).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        SALARY AND TERMS:<\/strong><\/strong> Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience. This full-time position is located in Baltimore, MD.\u00a0This position is an exempt position from the fair labor standards act. An excellent benefit package is offered.<\/p>\n
